US Open Golf Odds 2012

The US Open is always a fantastic tournament that is held in June of every year which means it is the second of the four Golf Majors to be played each season. The US Open was first played in 1895 and has become one of the toughest tournaments on the calendar to win and it is common for US Open winners to card an over par score, this is because most of the US Open courses are Par 70's.

The US Open is unique in the fact that it is the only one of the Majors that employs an 18-hole play-off on a Monday should the tournament end with two or more players tied for the lead. This was the case in 2008 when Rocco Mediate and Tiger Woods (on one leg) came back on the Monday to play another 18 holes before playing sudden death at the end of it. This has drawn some criticism in the past as it is difficult for TV coverage and inevitably the crowds are smaller for an unplanned Monday play-off.

US Open Recent and Future Courses

The US Open uses various courses across the country to host the tournament but they all have a couple of things in common and they are that they are always long in distance and feature some long rough. Next stop for the 2012 US Open will be Pebble Beach Golf Links in California which always provides a unique test that is rarely seen in the US.
