Augusta National Golf Course

Augusta National is one of the most famous golf courses in the entire world and plays hosts to the US Masters each April, the course is located in the town of Augusta in Georgia and is frequently voted the best golf course in the world. It is also one of the most exclusive golf clubs in the world with only members allowed any where near the course outside of the Masters, there are only around 300 members at the club and all memberships are offered by invitation only and is thought to cost around $10,000 a year which is reasonable in relative terms to other clubs.

The course was founded by Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts in 1933 and has hosted the Masters since 19434 in which time it has become an iconic venue with images of the course beamed all around the world each year. The course has many famous features with its lightning quick greens being the most obvious one, the greens at Augusta have often been likened to trying to putt on a sheet of glass and many of the top pros struggle to cope at Augusta.

Amen Corner

Perhaps the most recognized part of the Augusta National course is the famed Amen Corner which consists of holes, 11,12,and 13 which are all tightly packed into a corner of the course. The three holes are some of the most difficult in golf and a potential Champion must always negotiate Amen Corner safely on Sunday afternoon before he can even think about slipping on the Green Jacket.

The 11th hole is a testing Par 4, the 12th is one of the most stunning Par 3's in world golf and then Amen Corner is rounded off with a Par 5 to provide the golfer with the ultimate test over just three holes at Augusta.

Course Card

The course is one of the toughest Par 72's in the world, each hole is named after one of the stunning flowers or plants that surround that hole, the scenery and flowers have become almost as famous as the tournament itself as they are always in full bloom for the tournament.
